“I’m not antisemitic…I merely disapprove of the actions of the State of Israel”

I’ve heard this claim countless times. Firstly, I find that most people making such a claim lack similar disapproval for virtually every other country in the world (including numerous countries where anyone claiming to possess a superior moral interest in global issues should have an opinion). Applying standards to Israel that are not applied to other countries is an example of antisemitism in practise, whether the intent is discrimination against Israel or not, and whether the perpetrator is aware of it or not.

But what about Israel’s actions?

Do you take into account the jihadi nature of Israel’s enemies in your disapproval? (If not, then you are not morally equipped to judge).

Don’t you think that Israel have a moral duty to act against the jihadi enemies that pose a real and present threat to her citizens?

Do you have a morally acceptable method of dealing with the jihadis? (Especially one that doesn’t affect the innocent civilians that will inevitably get caught up in the conflict as casualties of war?) No? Maybe that is because there is no easy or morally acceptable way.

Seeing as Israel is apparently doing such a poor job of dealing with the jihadis in a morally acceptable way, can you give an example of anyone offering to tackle the Palestinian jihadis instead of Israel? Surely there would be thousands of suggestions of a more moral way to do it from all these armchair critics safely out of the reach of the jjhadis who threaten Israel?

You disapprove of the blockade of Gaza?

Over 500 rockets were fired from Gaza at Israeli civilian towns during November 2019. Apart from the multimillion dollar cost of these rockets (do they really deserve your donations if they have enough funds to literally blow millions into the air?), this clearly shows that the blockade is essential – and not strong enough.

Don’t you think israel has the moral duty to ensure rockets don’t reach Gaza?

Checkpoints. You don’t like checkpoints? Do you not think Israel has the right… no duty…. to act against brutal terrorism

More coming soon…

You disapprove of occupation? Do you know that Gaza hasn’t been occupied since 2005? Ending occupation in the absence of a peace agreement does not bring about a peaceful solution. Judging by the violence emanating from Gaza, it is very clear that occupation is a symptom of the conflict, not the cause.
Similarly there was no peace before 1967. Or 1948.
