A commonly used excuse for violence against Jews in the State of Israel is occupation.
Yet violence against local Jews began long before the excuse of occupation or even the creation of the State of Israel in 1948:

Occupation
The occupation of Gaza ended in 2005. Judging by the violence emanating from Gaza, it is very clear that occupation is a symptom of the conflict, not the cause.
